Mozhgan Heyman

was born in Iran on June 12, 1972. Since the fall of the Shah of Iran my[Mozhi all dressed up] life has been in upheaval. When the city I grew up in, Abadan, was attacked by the Iraqis we fled to Tehran. As a young girl in Tehran I remember sitting in the basement listening to the Iraqi SCUD missles raining down on the city. Later, during the Gulf War, I would once again experience Iraqi SCUDs.

I arrived in Israel in 1987 at the age of 15 with my mother and sister to visit my brothers, uncles, aunts, and grandparents. Although I wanted to stay in Israel, my father very strongly objected. Despite his objections, at the end of our visit my mother and sister returned to Iran leaving me here in Israel.

The first year was spent in a Youth Aliya boarding school called Hadassim. The school was supposed to be explicitly for young new immigrants however the majority of the pupils were Israelis who either came from broken homes, were juvenille delinquints, or both. As you can imagine, this provided for some very interesting experiences!

The following year I moved to a small town called Yehud where practically my entire family lives. While living in a small two room apartment with my grandmother, I finished my final two years of high school.

After finishing high school I moved to Jerusalem in order to participate in Hebrew University 's School for Overseas Students' Mechina program. During this year I met and fell in love with the object of my heart David! We were married on October 7, 1991.

In the summer of 1994 I graduated from Hadassah College in Jerusalem's Department of Laboratory Technology. I presently work at the Ein Kerem branch of Hadassah Hospital in the Endocrynology unit. I am currently working as a lab technician for a project researching the genealogical causes of diabetes.
